Crank Sturgeon Special! Reviews of Live Show and Album - Half Beast, Just You And I

Ok, so this is going to be a weird one. Last Sunday, I attended a Crank Sturgeon noise show (basically a concert with experimental bands instead of conventional ones) and decided to put off the other bands on my schedule to review Crank Sturgeon and his show. I was actually lucky to be able to see Crank Sturgeon at this concert because he said it would be his last ever in the East Coast since he is moving to California! A short biography of Crank Sturgeon*: When he was younger, Crank got interested in dada and futurism which according to him "was way cooler than being in a punk band." He also started writing cutup poetry, inspired by these interests. In the late 80s, Crank went to art school where he started doing video art, performance art, and got into multi-media projects. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Since this is my first blog post, I thought it would be appropriate to start with the album that started the genre of metal, Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath. This album is possibly one of the most influential albums ever made, not only because it was the first metal album ever made, but also because it kick-started several other related genres of music such as doom metal, stoner metal, and psychedelic metal. Although in my opinion this isn't the best Black Sabbath, it is definitely one of my favorites. The album starts out strong with one of my favorite Black Sabbath songs, and the first ever doom metal song, "Black Sabbath" (on the album Black Sabbath by the band Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath Cubed if you will). This song does a great job of creating a heavy sense of dread and impending doom, which puts shivers down my back whenever I listen to it.
